OMP is thrilled to present its Fourth Annual Young Soloist Competition, which has a proud tradition of featuring some of Oregon’s finest young musicians. The deadline is Monday, December 18, 2017  to submit an application. Application materials, complete Competition Guidelines, and contact information for the competition coordinator Grace Ho are available by clicking here.

The competition has two age categories: Senior, for musicians ages 14-18; and Junior, for musicians age 13 and under.

We are happy to announce that, due to a generous donor, we are able to substantially increase our prize award money to the First place and Second place winners in each category.

  • The first-prize Senior Division winner will be awarded $2000, and the second-prize Senior Division winner will be awarded $750.
  • The first-prize Junior Division winner will be awarded $1500, and the second-prize Junior Division winner will be awarded $750.

Submitted applications are reviewed by Monday, January 8, 2018, and finalists will be notified to compete in a live final round, open to the public at no charge, Sunday, February 4, 2018, in Beall Concert Hall at the University of Oregon School of Music & Dance. A panel of distinguished musicians and educators determine the First and Second place winners in each division.

The First and Second place winners in both the Senior and Junior divisions of the competition receive cash awards, and First place winners are featured soloists with OMP’s final subscription concert of the season, Saturday, May 12, 2018.
