Cheryl
Denice’s first memorable musical experience was as principal
oboe in the Northwest Indiana Youth Orchestra, with whom she recorded
J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #2. She subsequently attended
Indiana State University, where she earned a teaching degree and began
oboe lessons. She earned her Masters in Performance at the
University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She has
been privileged to study with the following teachers: John W. Denton,
Sara Bloom, Robert Bloom, Allan Vogel, Grover Schiltz, Ray Still, Fred
Korman,and Jerry Sirucek.
Cheryl has played in orchestras in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and North
Carolina. She currently plays with the Eugene Symphony, the
Oregon Mozart Players and Eugene Opera Orchestras. Doing business
as Cascade Oboe Reeds, she has many devoted clients across the United
States and abroad. In her spare time she enjoys camping, hiking, rowing
drift boats, surfing, practicing tae kwon do, and singing in the car.
